IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: New Management Company and New Board Officers

Dear New Plaza owners, I'm writing with two important announcements related to our Association. On August 1, 2013, the Board provided Tilmon Properties a letter of intent to terminate our contract for property management services. As of Septemer 1, 2013,  Thos. D. Walsh , a D.C.-based, family-owned company in business for over one hundred years, will provide property management services to the New Plaza Condo Association.  Keith Carr  and  Blake Barber  will be the Association's primary points of contact. You will be receiving a mailing from Thos. D. Walsh in the coming weeks with important information about the transition from Tilmon to Thos. D. Walsh. The mailing will also include a request for your updated contact information.  The Board requests that you  carefully  read all documents in the mailing, and please return the requested information to Thos. D. Walsh immediately .  In the meantime, you may contact the Board at  board@thenewplaza.com  with any questions about this

Building Access to Service Providers

The Board received numerous responses to the August 1, 2013 memo (" BUILDING ACCESS TO UNKNOWN PERSONS "). Residents shared their experiences of service personnel inappropriately seeking building access. In response, the Board would like to specifically address this issue. Please be advised that all unit owners are personally responsible for providing proper access to the building for all delivery, cleaning, repair, or any service personnel for your unit; this issue can largely be addressed by ensuring your mobile phone number is programmed into the building callbox. We have received several reports of New Plaza residents being approached by service providers (both in person and through the callbox) to provide access to the building on behalf of other residents/owners. In most cases, these persons have claimed to be cleaning or pet service personnel. Additionally, we have received reports of unit service personnel waiting by the front entry door in attempt to gain access to

Grill Propane Tank to Be Refilled by Wendesday

This is a notice that the propane tank for the front yard grill is curently empty. The new tank will be in place by Wednesday evening. Apologies for any inconvenience. The Board ordered two propane tanks so that there will be a backup propane tank immediately available whenever the one attached to the grill runs out.

New Grill + Grill Manual

A new grill was delivered and set up today in the front yard area. The old grill will be removed tomorrow. A scanned copy of the Grill User Manual is available on the Condo blog (Grill Calendar page), or you may click here . Please remember to always turn off the propane tank, clean the grill, and cover the grill when finished with use.

Reminder: Building Access for Unknown Persons

Dear New Plaza residents, Yesterday morning, a New Plaza resident who was exiting the building allowed an unknown individual to enter the lobby at the same time. The individual in question proceeded to wander around the building, including on other floors, before stealing a package from the lobby and leaving. The Board is supporting the resident whose package was stolen in contacting the police and providing video footage of the suspect. Please take this unfortunate incident as a reminder to NEVER allow unknown individuals into the building . A seemingly harmless gesture has the potential to endanger all residents. Specifically: DO NOT permit unknown individuals to enter the building when you are exiting; DO NOT  offer to provide building access to unknown individuals who are using the callbox when you are entering the building-- it is residents' responsibility to provide access for their guest(s); DO NOT  buzz in unknown callers who contact you through the callbox;  DO NOT  permi
