Traffic and Parking Changes on Our Block

As you may have noticed, yesterday DDOT removed the parking spot paint for the five spaces across the street from our building and painted new traffic merge arrows. These changes are part of DDOT plans to create two partial through lanes of traffic on 12 street north of Massachusetts Avenue that will allow cars to merge halfway down the block (instead of in the intersection as they tend to do now). As part of the same plan, you may have noticed the change in traffic signals-- specifically, a delayed, dedicated left turn arrow for cars turning from 12th onto westbound Mass Ave. DDOT announced its plans to make these changes well over a year ago, but they're just now getting around to it. 

The one small consolation is that DDOT will turn the three government only parking spaces further down the block into zone 2 resident only parking spaces.
