Board Meeting Summary, July 2014

Lobby Renovation
A large majority of the Association approved the proposed lobby renovation. Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming turnout for the Special Meeting and online proxy voting. The Board will obtain next steps from Joseph Ireland Design and provide residents with a schedule of the lobby renovation and unit door painting as soon as it is available.

Laundry Machines
The laundry machine vendor has informed the Board of still more delays in their anticipated delivery. We anticipate that the new laundry machines will be installed in mid-September. We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed on progress of the installation.

New Storage Lockers
The new storage locker project in the Maintenance Room will soon be getting under way. There will be a variety of available locker sizes, including: (4) 3’Wx4’Dx3’H units, (4) 3’Wx3’Dx3’H units, (1) 3’Wx4’Dx6’H unit and  (1) 3’Wx3’Dx6’H unit. Please email TDW if you would like to add your name to the storage locker waiting list.

Once the storage cages project begins, the Board will decide upon monthly rental rates for the cages, as well as new-- higher-- monthly rental rates for the existing storage rooms. The monthly rental rates will be more commensurate with-- but less than-- market rates for storage units.

Bicycle Room
The lock and light timer in the bike room is scheduled for replacement. Until this happens, please make sure that you turn off the light when you leave the room and you turn the lock so that it is in fact locked when you leave. Unlike the laundry room lock, when you turn the lock on the bicycle room, it leaves the lock as unlocked.

Enjoying the YardThe yard is now outfitted with a great new umbrella to help residents enjoy the yard in the hot sun. Please remember to close the umbrella when you are done using it. Please remember to use the Grill Calendar to reserve the grill.

Landscaping
As you may have noticed, our yard just does not seem to appreciate the arborvitae trees lining the Massachusetts Avenue side of the yard. This planting is under warranty and in September, our landscaper will remove and replant the yellowed/browned trees and the drift roses that did not take at no cost.

Earlier this week, representatives from the Board met with a representative from the D.C. Department of the Environment's "Riversmart" program for a property audit. Several months back the Board applied on behalf of the Association to participate in the Riversmart program, which provides low-cost shade trees, permeable planters, and rain run-off solutions for District residential properties. In the coming weeks our Association's eligibility for the program and the amount of credit awarded for use toward the aforementioned services will be determined by the Auditor.

Laundry Room Etiquette
In response to residents' requests, the Board has created a document with laundry room etiquette to remind residents that the Laundry Room is a common area used by all. Click here to a view a copy of the Laundry Room rules, or visit the "Condo Docs" tab of the website to download a copy.
