Final Plea for Volunteers

One last plea for helping hands tomorrow night at 8:30pm to move unwanted items from the Maintenance Room and make space for installation of storage lockers. The effort shouldn't take long, so all help for any amount of time is much appreciated! Items both big and small need to be removed. Please email board@thenewplaza.com  if you are wiling to pitch in. Thanks!

Tree Removal Dates

Attention owners and residents: The tree of heaven in the front yard is scheduled to be removed on Saturday, April 5th.  The rain date for removal is Saturday, April 12th. As such, please do not plan to use or enter the yard this Saturday. As the warmer weather [hopefully] returns to D.C. in the next few weeks, we'd like to share the following reminders about front yard use: All pets are prohibited from the front yard, through the end of the summer. We will be replanting in the coming weeks and it's important that new plants have minimal disturbance in their first few months. The Board will reevaluate this rule after Labor Day. Once the grill is placed outside, please use the Grill Calendar on the condo blog (http://www.newplaza1115.com/p/outdoor-grill.html) to reserve it. If you need a key to the front yard gate, please contact Thos. D. Walsh. Thanks!

Please Help! Volunteers Needed!!

Dear owners and residents, As you know, the Board has scheduled a building-wide bulk trash pick-up for Wednesday, April 2.  We've decided to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out the basement Maintenance Room, where shortly we plan to install storage cages for resident use. There is years' worth of hardware materials, junk, and misfit items that need to be disposed of before we can install the storage cages. As such, we're organizing a Maintenance Room clean-out on Tuesday, April 1 at 8:30pm.   I'm writing to ask for volunteers to lend a hand in moving unwanted items from the Maintenance Room to the outdoor trash room. The more volunteers, the faster and easier the process will go! Please send an email to board@thenewplaza.com if you are willing and able to help and we'll send additional details. Several of you have offered to help out if the Board was ever in need, so please make good on those offers! Thanks!!!

Bulk Trash Pickup on Wed. Apr 2

The Board has scheduled a bulk trash pickup for  Wednesday, April 2nd at 7:00 a.m.   You may drop off all bulk trash items in the ground-level trash area  beginning Tuesday, April 1st  up until 7:00 a.m. on April 2nd. Because the area is small and we need to keep it relatively clean, please DO NOT set out your bulk trash items before April 1st . Please also attempt to place your bulk trash items as close to the perimeter of the trash area as possible. Please email the Board at board@thenewplaza.com  if  you will be out of town during the indicated drop-off window  and need to  leave your bulk trash items in the trash area before April 1st. Thanks!

Prostitution in the Neighborhood

New Plaza residents: Please see the below helpful information recently shared by the Board of Directors of 1010 Massachusetts Ave., NW regarding prostitution in the neighborhood. "Some unit owners and I have recently attended one or more of several meetings dealing with prostitution in Washington DC and in our neighborhood. We have spoken with police detectives, an undercover agent, police officers on the beat, non-profit representatives, and the ANC committee on public safety. We have learned that: Prostitution is big business and criminal elements run rings all over the country and up and down the east coast Route 95 corridor. Most sex workers are victims of human trafficking who have been recruited into the business at an average age of 13 and are under tight control of pimps and crime syndicates. Some sex workers are independent, however, they tend to provide outcall services and seek customers on Craigs List and Backroom.com. It is NOT illegal to walk the streets, even if prov

Legal Counsel Update

Dear owners: Earlier this week (and possibly just today), you should have received an email from Keith Carr at Thos. D. Walsh with an attached letter from the Board updating you about the settlement reached with our former attorney and the hiring of new legal counsel for the Association. There may have been a glitch with the software that sent out the email. If you DID NOT receive this update, please email board@thenewplaza.com and we send you a copy of the letter.
