The New Plaza Board would like to remind all residents to vote today (Tuesday, April 23rd) in the DC City Council At-Large Special Election. Our polling place is the Metropolitan Ame Church, located at 1518 M Street, NW . Please be advised, the New Plaza Board is not endorsing a specific candidate. Instead, we encourage you to review individual candidate statements and records. DCist has a good candidate guide and here is the Washington Post endorsement, for your consideration.

The Board received notification today that our custom front doors will be delivered to our contractor, AllenBuilt, Inc., on May 3, 2013. AllenBuilt therefore will schedule labor and installation based on that date. We will let you know the exact dates/times of installation once everything is confirmed.

After several of months of in-depth research and interviews with numerous landscaping companies (both design firms and more traditional landscapers), the Board is pleased to announce that we have signed a design agreement with GreenLOFT Design, LLC , an urban landscape design firm located near Logan Circle. Damian Chayse, the founder and principal designer at GreenLOFT, impressed the Board with his thoughtful design aesthetic and professionalism. We are very much looking forward to working with him. Over the next few weeks, Mr. Chayse will be working to design a sustainable urban concept for our side yard, which will include a patio, seating area, and new plants. The Board will review the designs and, upon selecting one, will then hire GreenLOFT to implement the design. We are hoping to complete the process before June 1st, though we will keep everyone posted on our progress. We hope that you are as excited as we are. Stay tuned for additional updates.
